On October 29, 2026, 18,270 BTC was stolen from a Binance hot wallet. On-chain analysis traced it to an attacker-controlled address. The figure covers the bitcoin portion of a theft involving multiple crypto assets.
Some stablecoin issuers can block transfers from specific addresses. Bitcoin has no equivalent issuer-controlled freeze function. A freeze on other tokens therefore does not mean the stolen BTC is frozen.
Exchanges and custodians can still block stolen BTC if it reaches their services. Tracing funds, freezing assets and recovering money for victims are distinct actions. A company covering losses is also different from recovering funds from an attacker.
Check updates in the official app or at an official website address you type yourself. Review two-factor authentication and withdrawal address restrictions. Do not connect a wallet or sign a request through an unsolicited recovery link.
The 18,270 BTC figure does not establish any individual user's loss or confirm recovery.
